The Charles Bierman Home – Living with Assistance
The Charles Bierman Home is a Jewish independent housing facility consisting of private studio apartments clustered within a common living space designed to integrate the individual into a group environment. This arrangement provides residents with comfort, security and supervision that help foster and maintain independence. All Bierman Home members are encouraged to become involved in the varied group social activities that are available. The Bierman Home also offers furnished apartments for short-term respite care designed to provide relief to caregivers and also provides seniors an opportunity to experience the Home on a trial basis.
The Charles Bierman Home is located at 110 Vose Avenue in South Orange. The location is convenient to synagogues, shopping, library and other community services.
Eligibility
Applicants must be at least 62 years of age, while adults with special needs will be accepted at any age. In addition, applicants must be ambulatory (with or without assistance), mentally oriented, emotionally adjusted and independent in daily living tasks such as dressing, bathing, self-administration of medication and other personal care functions. Applicants must have a personal physician and be approved based on a personal interview. Applicants are expected to pay the full program cost.
In the event that group living at The Charles Bierman Home is no longer appropriate for a resident, an automatic application is forwarded to the Daughters of Israel Admissions department. If the individual chooses another nursing facility, our professional staff will also assist in this process.
