Religious Services

SPARKS

Residents and families are welcome at all our services. Our Rabbi holds morning services Monday through Friday in our beautifully appointed synagogue.

Shabbat services include Friday night Mincha and Maariv services in our synagogue. For a conservative approach to Shabbat there is a Friday night Chavura Program in our auditorium.

Saturday services are held in both the morning and afternoon and conclude with Havdalah services on each unit.
The Rabbi holds small study groups and discussions on the units throughout the month and regularly makes pastoral rounds on the units and in the hospitals.

Programs and activities designed to meet the spiritual and cultural needs of the residents of Daughters of Israel

SHABBAS SIMCHA
The Shabbas Simcha program seeks to elevate the spiritual lives of residents struggling with illness and end of life issues through an enhanced program of Jewish music and stories. Intergenerational programs abound here with local synagogue nursery schools and area camps often performing for the residents.

AT MY MOTHER'S KNEE
Certain religious and cultural impressions are made at a very young age, often at home within the comfort and warmth of the family. These memories include Yiddish expressions, key prayers, Jewish songs, the smell and taste of a holiday meal. At My Mother's Knee seeks to elicit these memories through a monthly program of song, cooking, discussion and ritual.

These small group, short programs are designed for the cognitively impaired, targeting those individuals who are in the middle stages of Alzheimer's Disease or who have some form of significant cognitive disability. Many residents with dementia process mainly long term memory and this program focuses on those vivid and stimulating memories learned At My Mother’s Knee.

BIKUR CHOLIM
In conjunction with the Metro West Jewish Health and Healing Center, local synagogues and schools, volunteers are paired with residents considered to be at risk for depression or isolation.

BABY BRIGADE
The Baby Brigade is an intergenerational program comprised of a group of mothers and their young children who come and visit with residents on a weekly basis. Nothing brings a smile to a resident’s face faster than a baby does!

In 1906 we pledged to provide the elderly with the finest care imaginable.
Today, we’re still keeping that promise!
